Latching, feeding often and when to ask for help.

Newborns feed often, usually eight to twelve times in 24 hours, and that is normal. Frequent feeding is also how your milk supply is built.

Aim for a deep latch that does not pinch, keep baby skin to skin, and offer both sides. Different holds suit different bodies, so try a few.

Sore nipples that do not improve, or fewer wet nappies than expected, are good reasons to speak to your clinic or a lactation nurse early.
