You do not need a toy for every month. Babies learn most from a few simple things they can grasp, shake, bang and mouth safely.
In the early months, high-contrast cards and soft rattles. Around six months, stacking cups, textured balls and board books. From one year, push toys, shape sorters and chunky blocks.
Check for small parts and loose seams, wash toys often, and rotate a few at a time so they stay interesting.
